Title: Introduction to the special exhibition entitled "Waging Peace - U.S. Soldiers and Veterans Who Opposed America's War in Viet Nam"

Author: Dr. Tran Xuan Thao (Director, War Remnants Museum, Viet Nam); Ron Carver (Associate Fellow, Institute for Policy Studies) and partners.

Abstract: During its operations, the War Remnants Museum always pursues the prime aim of directing people’s thoughts towards peace. Apart from holding a series of permanent display, special and traveling exhibitions, the museum also serves as a bridge that links visitors with historical witnesses. Many American and South Korean veterans of Viet Nam War went to the museum to meet and be reconciled with their Vietnamese counterparts.

In 2018, the museum and U.S-based Veterans For Peace (VFP) held a joint special exhibition entitled “Waging Peace - U.S. Soldiers and Veterans Who Opposed America’s War in Viet Nam” and related activities, namely international meetings and book publications in both Viet Nam and the United States, which have attracted a great deal of public interest.

This exhibition not only marks a close cooperation between the War Remnants Museum and peace groups, but also helps strengthen the friendly relationship between the citizens of the two countries.
