Author: Seishi Ishibashi, Curator, Sumida Ward Sumida Heritage Museum (Japan)
Abstract: The Sumida Folk & Culture Museum is a municipal museum in Sumida-ku, Tokyo, which opened in 1999 and has been operating since then. The theme of the exhibition has been life during World War II. This area was particularly hard hit by the US air raids on March 10, 1945, and it is a place where the exhibitions on the air raids and the orphans of the air raids were held. Since 2003, the museum has solicited and exhibited paintings by air raid survivors. In addition, we have been working on a joint study of the list of air raid victims. I would like to report on our activities up to the present, as well as present our prospects for the future.
