•Part I Overview of the museological and educational approach of UNESCO to the dialogue of cultures and civilizations.
•PART II Peace education initiatives: Austria and Japan
Author(s): Fran Eve Wright, Programme Director UNESCO Club Vienna
Abstract:
The Author provides an overview of the museological and educational approach of UNESCO to the dialogue of cultures and civilizations, including information and links to training programmes developed in consultation with museums and other institutions. Digital outreach by The World Museum Vienna during the COVID-19 pandemic is referenced with a recommendation to consider the development of an INMP digital presence.
Furthermore, the Author highlights activities promoting a culture of peace outside the traditional museum structure including the history of the Nuclear Power Plant at Zwentendorf in Austria, having never been commissioned for use; it was once considered to be opened as a museum and is now open to the public. The Author presents significant initiatives that have contributed to peace education and sharing of experience between Austria and Japan.
A commemorative videography of the performance of ‘Black Swan’ has been produced in collaboration with Jakub Kavin, Director of TheaterArche.
