Abstract: The Korean poet Yun Dongju was imprisoned for violating the Peace Preservation Act while studying at Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan and died in prison at the age of 27. Shortly before his arrest, he went on a hiking trip to the Uji River with his fellow students and took a photo which was the last photo of his life. The monument was erected in October 2017 by the Uji River, after a 12-year campaign of citizens of Uji City in cooperation with the people in Japan and abroad as "Monument of Memory and Reconciliation Dedicated to Poet Yun Dongju". monument to memory and reconciliation was erected.
